Window On The West Performers

Tom Hamp - Photographer, Western Photo Gallery

Tom Hamp :: Photographer

Calgary Photographer, Tom Hamp, has been photographing rural themes in Southern and Central Alberta for the past 15 years.

His focus has been primarily on documenting the Prairie Grain Elevator, which has been an important part of our heritage, and which has sadly disappeared from our landscape. With the importance of preserving our heritage, he has shifted his focus to the Ukrainian Churches in the East-Central Alberta Settlement Block in the Vegreville-Lamont area.

Images are printed in warm tones on rough watercolour paper and are available framed and unframed. Elevator images are available framed in rare and unique wood salvaged from demolished grain elevators.

Tom is a consulting engineer and professional photographer, and is President of Chinook Country Historical Society, which is the Calgary Chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta.

Tom’s presentation is entitled: "Photographing the Prairie Grain Elevator - Composition and Large Format Camera Techniques".
