The Calgary Magic Circle operates a Junior Magic Club for youth aged 8 to 16 years old in order to pass on knowledge, skills, and abilities to a younger generation and to foster an interest in the performing arts. Potential members are interviewed, and their acceptance is based on their attitude. Only 15 serious young magicians are chosen per year. The main focus is on performing in front of a live audience, so they are exposed to all facets of magic and on-stage performance. Each young magician learns 6-9 different tricks each year. The junior Club is run by John Horsley.
