The Duke & the Rocky Mountain Gang - Alberta History and Music
Rob Lennard, the leader of The Duke & The Rocky Mountain Gang, has been an entertainer all his life. He first developed a passion for entertaining while part of the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and has performed at over 1000 events since, including performances for the King and Queen of Sweden and the Prime Minister of Finland. The inspiration for The Duke and The Rocky Mountain Gang stems from the award winning historical fiction book that Rob wrote for Alberta's
Centennial entitled The Alberta Time Travel Adventures of Family Day Ray, Roxy and Jasper. Rob felt that to further share his passion and love for Alberta history it made sense to use his music/songwriting skills to create catchy toe tapping tunes that cover historical facts and characters from Alberta's past. The songs featured include songs about the history of the CP Rail, the 1905 Inauguration Ceremony, Tom Three Persons, Canada's first world rodeo champion from the Blood Reservation and the history of oil in the province.
The band is comprised of a guitar, banjo, up-right bass, drums, harmonica and mandolin.
